Red Clay Dance Company

Based in Chicago's South Side, Red Clay Dance Company is a Black, female-led dance organization creating, performing, and teaching dances of the African Diaspora. Its classes celebrate African Diasporic dance traditions while offering contemporary movement classes for participants. The company also presents performances featuring movement and storytelling centered on Black expression. Making The Artivist® is a paid, 12-month apprenticeship for young creators using movement to engage with culture and social change. Red Clay offers opportunities for class registration, performance bookings, facility rentals, press inquiries, and partnerships. Its work seeks to amplify voices of the African Diaspora, support Black women, and pursue remuneration equity for artists.
