Ramen
Ramen is at the heart of the restaurant.
Ramen by UZU opened inside Union Market after beginning as a food offering at Honeycomb Grocer. Founder Hiro grew up in Japan, learning to cook Japanese comfort food from his mother in Osaka. The restaurant serves his version of the food he grew up eating, with ramen at its center. UZU also has a Georgetown location. Its story includes Hiro's experience as a line cook at Aoi, Toki Underground and Maketto, as well as his time managing Paperhorse Ramen. The business began alongside that restaurant work and later grew to include the Conbini by UZU pop-up at Shopkeepers Gallery. Ramen by UZU is a Japanese restaurant in Washington, DC.
