Youth support
Supports LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults ages 13-29.
JASMYN began in 1992 with a support group for gay and lesbian youth at Willow Branch Library. Today, the Jacksonville nonprofit serves LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults ages 13-29 across greater Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. Its work includes health services, HIV education and prevention, and support for homeless and vulnerable youth. JASMYN also helps foster safer environments for LGBTQIA+ young people, including through the Northeast Florida Safe Schools Coalition, founded in 2001 to combat bullying. Community programs include teen activities and the annual Coming Out Day Breakfast, which brings people together to show support for LGBTQIA+ youth and their human rights. The organization grew from a small volunteer-led effort into a community resource for young people seeking support and connection.
