An art conservation studio in Dallas. Las Negras Studio is a second-generation family business founded in 1985, specializing in painting conservation. Its work includes inherited heirlooms, auction finds, and pieces from public and private collections. Each project begins with a visual examination, followed by photographic documentation and, when appropriate, visual and chemical analysis. The studio prepares a treatment estimate for client approval and discusses procedures designed to preserve the artwork's integrity and historical value. Treatment aims to maintain the artist's original intent while using the least invasive approach possible. After treatment, a report and process images can be provided upon request. The painting conservation studio operates in Northeast Dallas and has a custom-built 8-by-12-foot hot vacuum table for treating and lining oversized paintings. Frame and antique restoration, gilding, and special finishes were passed to a former apprentice's separate workshop.
