About American Opera Projects
American Opera Projects is a Brooklyn nonprofit that provides resources and opportunities for artists creating new lyric theater. Its work includes commissioning, developing, and producing opera and lyric theater projects, along with training programs for student and emerging composers and librettists. The organization also conducts community engagement activities. AOP supports contemporary opera through current and past productions, including The NYU/Tisch Opera Lab and Composers & the Voice. It also periodically holds general auditions for singers and accepts singer materials for future consideration. Proposals for project development and production are considered by referral and invitation only. American Opera Projects is based in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, at 138 South Oxford Street.
