Platform and Recognition Terms of Use

These platform-level terms sit alongside the customer-facing Legal & Terms summary, which covers plans, payments and the display of recognition in plain language. Where a detailed question arises, both documents apply together.

1. Agreement

These Terms govern access to and use of the Reedleys website, directory, applications, accounts, reviews, service requests, business tools, verification and recognition services.

By using the service, creating an account, submitting content, claiming a profile, requesting an assessment or purchasing a plan, you agree to these Terms and the policies incorporated by reference. If you act for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.

If mandatory consumer law gives you non-waivable rights, those rights are not excluded.

2. What Reedleys is

Reedleys is an independent private directory, verification and recognition platform. Reedleys is not a government agency, regulator, statutory accreditation body, professional licensing authority, credit rating agency, insurer, employment agency, escrow provider or party to transactions between users and listed organizations or professionals.

A Reedleys profile, verification, rating, badge or certificate does not guarantee quality, safety, legality, availability, financial condition, results or future conduct. Users should make their own checks before purchasing, hiring, investing, contracting or relying on a profile.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must provide accurate account information, protect login credentials and notify Reedleys of suspected unauthorized access. Professional and organization account holders must normally be at least 18 years old or the legal age of majority.

Reedleys may require identity, authority, email, telephone, domain or other verification before enabling sensitive features. See the Identity and Evidence Verification Policy.

4. Directory use

You may use the directory for lawful personal or business research and to contact relevant organizations or professionals, viewing pages in the ordinary way through a standard web browser. You must not:

• scrape, crawl, spider, copy, download (other than the temporary local caching a browser performs for ordinary personal viewing), reproduce, republish, mirror, frame, harvest, index, data-mine or otherwise systematically extract, store or collect any part of the directory, its listings, profiles, ratings, reviews or other content, whether manually or by any bot, spider, scraper, script or other automated or bulk means, except through an authorized Reedleys API or a separate written agreement;
• sell, resell, rent, licence, sublicense, redistribute, publish, transfer or make available to a third party, or create derivative works from, any part of the directory or its content, except as expressly permitted in writing by Reedleys;
• use the directory or any of its content to build, train, populate, verify or improve a competing or comparable directory, listing service, database or dataset;
• use the service for spam, harassment, unlawful discrimination or deceptive solicitation;
• interfere with, probe or circumvent security, access controls, rate limits, ranking, indexing or verification systems, or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure;
• impersonate another person or organization;
• use automated access other than as expressly authorized, and in all cases in compliance with our robots.txt, API terms and any other published technical rules.

The directory, and the selection, arrangement, structure, coordination and compilation of the listings, profiles, geodata, categories, ratings and other content within it, are proprietary to Reedleys and are protected by intellectual-property and database rights. Reedleys does not claim ownership of an isolated public fact about a business or professional, but does own and reserve all rights in the compiled database and its presentation. No right to extract or re-use a substantial part of the database, or to repeatedly and systematically extract or re-use insubstantial parts, is granted except as set out in these Terms.

API access may be subject to separate API terms, limits and fees.

5. Profiles and claims

A profile may be created by an authorized representative, a professional, Reedleys or from lawfully available public information. Claiming a profile does not give ownership of factual public information or a right to remove accurate information merely because it is inconvenient.

Profile holders must keep information materially accurate and must not publish unlawful, infringing, deceptive, confidential or irrelevant personal information.

6. Reviews and user content

You retain rights in content you submit, but grant Reedleys a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, moderate, translate, display and distribute it for operating and promoting the service.

Reviews must reflect a genuine experience or a clearly disclosed professional opinion. They must not contain fabricated claims, threats, hate, doxxing, confidential evidence, conflicts that are not disclosed, paid endorsements presented as independent, or content that violates law or another person's rights.

Reedleys may moderate, refuse, restrict or remove content but is not required to pre-screen every submission. Removal does not mean Reedleys agrees with either party in the underlying dispute.

7. Service requests and third-party services

When a user submits a service request, Reedleys may share the relevant information with selected businesses or professionals. Reedleys does not guarantee that a provider will respond, be suitable, hold every licence required for a specific job or perform the work satisfactorily.

Any contract for goods or services is between the user and provider. Each party is responsible for due diligence, pricing, scope, licences, insurance, taxes, safety and payment.

8. Applications and evidence

Applicants must provide truthful, current and lawfully obtained information. Reedleys may verify evidence, contact issuers, review public sources and request clarification.

Applicants should redact unrelated sensitive information. Submission of evidence does not guarantee acceptance or a particular rating.

Deliberate impersonation, altered documents, borrowed credentials, fabricated reviews or material concealment may result in rejection, suspension, withdrawal, account restrictions and preservation of relevant records.

9. Assessment and recognition

Assessments are conducted under the current Recognition Standards and Assessment and Recognition Decision-Making Policy. Reedleys may apply criterion outcomes, weighting, moderation and quality controls, and publishes a successful outcome as Reedleys Recognized status, as explained on our recognition page.

Fees pay for assessment and service access, not for a result. A successful outcome is not guaranteed. Recognition is based on information reasonably available at the assessment date and may later change, expire, be suspended or be withdrawn.

10. Fees, subscriptions and refunds

Prices, billing periods, taxes and included features are shown at purchase and on the pricing page. You authorize the payment provider to charge the selected method.

Monthly plans may be cancelled for future billing in accordance with the checkout terms. Cancellation does not normally refund a period already started or assessment work already performed, except where Reedleys states otherwise or mandatory law requires a refund.

A one-time verification or assessment fee may become non-refundable after processing begins, subject to mandatory cancellation and consumer rights.

11. Badges, ratings and certificates

Active recognized profiles receive only the limited right to use approved Reedleys marks under the Badge, Certificate and Rating Use Policy. Marks may not be transferred, altered or used after expiry, suspension or withdrawal.

All Reedleys trademarks, designs, software, verification systems, certificate formats and the directory database and its compilation remain owned by or licensed to Reedleys. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of these rights to you.

12. Suspension and termination

Reedleys may restrict content, accounts, badges, certificates, API access, paid features or recognition where reasonably necessary for security, non-payment, misuse, legal compliance, investigation or breach of these Terms.

Recognition status is managed under the Recognition Status, Monitoring, Suspension and Withdrawal Policy. Account termination does not require Reedleys to erase records it has a lawful reason to retain.

13. Appeals and complaints

Eligible assessment decisions may be challenged under the Appeals Policy. Service, conduct, privacy and profile concerns may be submitted under the Complaints Policy.

These internal processes do not remove any mandatory right to contact a court, regulator, supervisory authority or consumer body.

14. Privacy

Personal information is handled under the Global Privacy and Data Protection Notice, Identity and Evidence Verification Policy, Public Data Retention Schedule and Cookie Policy.

15. Third-party links and providers

The service may link to or integrate with third-party websites, payment processors, identity providers, maps, app stores, registries and communication services. Reedleys is not responsible for third-party terms, content, security or availability, except to the extent required by law.

16. Service availability and changes

Reedleys may update, improve, suspend or discontinue features. Reedleys does not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent search placement, a fixed number of leads, continued support for every device or indefinite availability of a "lifetime" feature where the platform itself no longer operates.

Material prepaid services will be handled fairly and in accordance with applicable law.

17. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an "as available" basis. Reedleys does not warrant that every profile, review, public source, assessment item or third-party record is complete, current or error-free.

Nothing in these Terms excludes duties that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or other liability that mandatory law requires Reedleys to accept.

18. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Reedleys is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss; lost profits, revenue, opportunities, reputation or data; or losses arising from a transaction between users and a listed provider.

For paid Reedleys services, Reedleys' aggregate contractual liability will not exceed the greater of the amount paid for the affected service during the 12 months before the event or the minimum amount required by applicable law.

This limit does not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited.

19. Business-user responsibility

A business or professional user is responsible for claims, content, evidence, services and legal compliance connected to its profile. To the extent permitted by law, a business user will reimburse Reedleys for third-party claims and reasonable costs caused by that user's unlawful content, impersonation, fraud, intellectual-property infringement or unauthorized badge use.

This clause does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by Reedleys' own breach or wrongdoing.

20. Governing law and contracting entity

The contracting Reedleys entity and governing law may be identified at checkout, on the invoice or in a separate order. Where no separate term is stated, the law connected with the Reedleys entity operating the relevant service applies, subject to mandatory consumer and data-protection rights in the user's location.

21. Changes

Reedleys may update these Terms. Material changes will be published with a revised effective date and may be notified through the account or email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law; where fresh consent is required, Reedleys will request it.

Questions may be submitted through the Reedleys contact form. Legal notices should identify the sender, account or profile, issue and requested response.
