Jewish Ensemble Theater

In West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, Jewish Ensemble Theater was a professional theater producing live stage plays and youth programs. The organization has sunsetted. For more than 30 years, it presented four or five plays annually, with main stage productions for adult audiences in an immersive theater setting. Its Dorfman Family Foundation Youth Theater toured schools with anti-bullying shows for students in kindergarten through grade 12. JET also partnered with the Detroit Institute of Arts on recurring productions of The Diary of Anne Frank, including student matinees and a national tour. Its programming explored issues of humanity and community from a Jewish perspective, and addressed inclusion, fairness, justice, and equality. The theater was established in 1989 and operated as a professional company contracted with Actors' Equity Association.
