PNWER provides a forum for policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders from U.S. states and Canadian provinces and territories to discuss shared regional issues. It facilitates dialogue on trade barriers and works to identify and mitigate their unintended consequences. Its programs include the Center for Regional Disaster Resilience, the Legislative Energy Horizon Institute, working groups, and a Regional Infrastructure Accelerator. PNWER also organizes annual summits, economic forums, and webinars that bring regional participants together. Its work spans economic cooperation, infrastructure, tourism, energy, and disaster resilience. Created in 1991 by governments in the Pacific Northwest, this statutory public/private nonprofit is based in Seattle and serves a cross-border region encompassing Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Washington, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon.
