Founded in 1941
A San Diego photography club with roots dating to 1927.
Founded in 1941, Darkroomers Photographic Club centers its activities on printed photographic work. The San Diego club welcomes photographers working with film and digital cameras, and meets at the Photographic Arts Building in Balboa Park. Meetings include guest presentations, member print exhibitions with live critiques, and member spotlights. Quarterly themed competitions and an annual juried competition give members opportunities to present photographs, while the club also takes part in regional interclub competitions. Hands-on workshops cover photographic techniques, including studio lighting and editing workflows. Monthly photo walks take place around San Diego County and are open to the public. The club also organizes photography trips beyond the area. It has roots stretching back to 1927 and is a member of the Southern California Association of Camera Clubs.
