The Welcoming Center

English and Digital Skills is one of four core programs at this Philadelphia nonprofit, founded in 2003. The Welcoming Center helps immigrants of all backgrounds and skill levels build pathways to economic opportunity and strengthen their communities. Its programs also include Work Readiness, Entrepreneurship, and Community Leadership. Through these offerings, participants can develop skills, confidence, and agency to address barriers to integration and well-being. The organization works with participants, community organizations, and public and private sector institutions to advance learning, shape policy, and support economic growth. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Philadelphia. A citizenship project called Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers uses shared food and conversations about cuisine as a way to bring people together.
