Civil Rights Exhibits
Interpretive experiences explore Oklahoma's civil rights history.
The Freedom Center of Oklahoma City is a nonprofit organization that preserves and interprets Oklahoma's civil rights history. It develops exhibits, educational programming, and interpretive experiences through the Clara Luper Civil Rights Center, created to commemorate Clara Luper and Oklahoma City's role in the movement. The organization also provides volunteer opportunities for community members interested in history, service, and community involvement. As caretaker of the historic Freedom Center building, it is restoring the site and developing a five-acre campus with exhibition and programming areas, a welcome center, café, outdoor spaces, and event areas. The center's work focuses on educating visitors about the past, present, and future of the Civil Rights Movement in Oklahoma. It is located in Oklahoma City.
