East Bay Housing Organizations

Based in Oakland, East Bay Housing Organizations is a member-driven affordable housing advocacy coalition serving Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Since 1984, it has worked to preserve, protect, and create affordable housing opportunities for low-income communities. The organization educates elected and public officials, community groups, businesses, and the public about housing challenges and policy solutions. It organizes affordable housing residents and allies to lead advocacy campaigns and promote policies that create, fund, and preserve housing. Coalition-building is another part of its work, connecting grassroots and interfaith groups, labor unions, environmental organizations, advocates, and other participants. Programs include resident organizing, a leadership academy, committees, state legislation work, and educational events. EBHO also shares housing-related resources, including information about finding housing, legal aid, shelter, and foreclosure assistance.
