Starchildny

Starchildny is a preschool. It provides Japanese-language childcare and education in New York City's East Village, with an approach that respects each child and supports independence and living together. Play is used to foster friendship. Beginning in fall 2025, the program is introducing Jena Plan education, an approach used in the Netherlands. The organization also offers after-school activities, a weekend playgroup, and supplementary Japanese-language classes through Terakoya. Its learning programs help children use Japanese and English ways of thinking according to the situation, and develop understanding and self-expression. Programs include classes for young children and secondary school students, as well as a summer program.
