Game-like learning
Challenges and collaboration shape classroom learning.
In New York City, Quest to Learn is a specialty school built around game-like learning and real-world problem-solving. Its middle and upper school students take part in hands-on classroom experiences designed to build critical thinking, skills, collaboration, and iteration. Most core courses have two teachers per room, and the majority of classes have fewer than 23 students in middle school and 25 in high school. Learning extends beyond the classroom through internships and work with professionals, including NASA scientists, working artists, and local elected officials. Students also use a STEAM Lab for performance-based learning and project work. The school offers an advisory curriculum and prepares students for New York State Regents exams and college readiness.
