About Midori & Friends
Play to Learn offers instrumental and vocal instruction for students in grades PreK-12. Midori & Friends provides sequential music education to students in New York City schools and communities with little or no access to arts education. Its programs include classroom visits from classical music ensembles, interactive concerts and workshops exploring musical traditions from around the world, and immersive workshops focused on Japan, China, Africa, and Latin America. The organization also runs a paid leadership, artistry, and advocacy fellowship for New York City high school musicians. Programs are offered at no cost to students. Founded by violinist Midori, Midori & Friends has provided tuition-free music education to more than 330,000 students in New York City over 34 years.
