City Critters

Cat rescue and adoption services are the core of City Critters. This all-volunteer nonprofit helps stray and abandoned cats through rescue, placement, veterinary care, and adoption support. The organization also promotes spay and neuter programs, supports trap-neuter-return projects, and works with community members on humane solutions for homeless animals. City Critters has no physical shelter, so rescued cats are cared for through its network and partnerships while suitable homes are found. Its work includes cats that are elderly, injured, ill, shy, or friendly, with attention to matching each cat's needs and personality with an appropriate household. Established in 1994, City Critters serves New York City and focuses resources especially around the East Village and nearby communities.
