Los Angeles CARES Mentoring

Youth mentoring connections and parent support are the core services of this community movement. Los Angeles CARES Mentoring Movement works to pair young people with organizations that offer mentoring and to support parents in the community. It is an affiliate of the National CARES Mentoring Movement, whose programs include 36-week curricula and Wellness Mentoring Circles for children and youth. The national movement describes its curricula as evidence-based and focused on social, emotional and academic support, including healing from trauma, resilience, critical thinking and preparation for school and careers. Circles bring together young people, volunteer mentors and trained psychologists and social workers. The organization serves the Black community in Los Angeles.
