Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation

Support for current and former foster youth is the foundation's central service. It offers scholarships for undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational education, along with residential support for college-age women who have experienced foster care. We Are Kin is a free support group for kinship foster families, with other foster, adoptive, and biological families welcome. Mothers Mingle is a therapist-led life skills group for mothers who have experienced foster care; meals and childcare are provided. The foundation also uses Black and underrepresented communities' history to support foster youth's heritage, identity, and sense of belonging. Its house features a retrospective of Black activists, artists, inventors, and chefs, and visitors can schedule tours. Located in Los Angeles's West Adams neighborhood, the nonprofit develops its programs with input from current and former foster youth.
