About Southwest Detroit Business Association
The Southwest Detroit Business Association provides programs that support small businesses and community development. Its Small Business Advocacy Center offers resources for business growth, while the Façade Improvement Program provides grants to improve storefronts. The association also works with the City of Detroit on grants that convert vacant second-floor commercial space into housing, and supports mixed-use development projects. Its neighborhood work includes Mexicantown Main Street, streetscape improvements, a greenway project, and stormwater gardening. The association also participates in community and cultural initiatives, including the Center of Music & Performing Arts Southwest and a campaign addressing nitrous oxide abuse and littering. These services and projects focus on Southwest Detroit, including the Mexicantown cultural corridor.
