About Edifye
Based in Chicago, Edifye is a Black-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects professional athletes and their teams with local issues they care about. It helps tailor messages around those issues and amplify them through athletes' public platforms. The organization draws on the 2020 NBA and WNBA labor stoppages, which brought attention to racial solidarity and the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Edifye works with athletes and teams to shape how they engage with local concerns, turning their interest into a public message. Its work centers on using the reach of professional sports to draw attention to community issues.
