Chicago Torture Justice Center

In Chicago, the Chicago Torture Justice Center is a community and social services organization supporting survivors of police violence and their families. Its work grew from reparations efforts led by survivors seeking trauma-informed resources and politicized healing support. The Center offers clinical healing services, reentry support, and case management for incarcerated and non-incarcerated survivors, with services adapted to people's different needs and circumstances. Support is delivered through healing and wellness services, trauma-informed resources, and community connection. The Center also works in community to organize for new systems and supports a movement to end all forms of police violence. Its approach, called politicized healing, connects individual and collective healing with efforts to address the systems that cause harm.
