About Chicago friends school
Chicago Friends School was an independent K-8 school. It operated in Chicago's Edgewater and Andersonville neighborhoods, offering a progressive educational approach grounded in Quaker values. The school described its community as nurturing and inclusive, with values including simplicity, peace, integrity, equality, stewardship, and community. Chicago Friends School closed at the completion of the 2025-2026 academic year after its board concluded that financial constraints made continuing operations unsustainable. The school had served students for 15 years and shared a legacy shaped by its students, alumni, families, staff, and volunteers. Its educational offering is no longer operating.
