Affordable Housing
Develops and manages housing for families and individuals.
In 1975, neighbors came together to support 18 people who lost their homes in a Powers Street fire. That effort grew into St. Nicks Alliance, a Brooklyn community organization serving residents through housing and social programs. Its work includes developing and managing affordable rental, cooperative, senior, and supportive housing, along with tenant advocacy and housing policy efforts. Youth and education programs serve children ages 2 - 24 with academic, social, and career support. The organization's workforce development center offers job skills training, help with high school diplomas, and English learning. Elder care includes home care, assisted living for Medicaid recipients, senior center meals and activities, and transportation for seniors with limited mobility. St. Nicks Alliance also provides child care, after-school programs, summer camp, and other social services.
