American Legion

Veterans advocacy and support services are the core of this organization. The American Legion serves veterans, service members, and military families through legislative advocacy, accredited assistance with federal benefits, peer-to-peer resources, and mental health support initiatives. Its Be The One program focuses on suicide prevention and includes free training and access to the Veterans Crisis Line. Members can access provider discounts and events through the organization. Youth offerings include American Legion Baseball, Junior Shooting Sports, Boys State and Boys Nation, and the Oratorical Contest, which covers constitutional knowledge, leadership, and scholarships. The organization also provides events, training, scholarships, and community programs through posts in Brooklyn and across the United States.
