Metropolitan Bakery

In Philadelphia, Metropolitan Bakery is a bakery known for breads, rolls, and granola. Its former Rittenhouse Square retail location closed as the business transitioned its wholesale operation to Peter Merzbacher of Merzbacher's of Germantown. Those products are baked by Merzbacher's using Metropolitan Bakery's recipes and techniques, and continue to be available online and at specialty shops and markets throughout the region. The bakery's wholesale products are carried by local grocers, food markets, and co-ops, including locations in Philadelphia and nearby communities. It has been baking since 1993. The transition affects the retail store and wholesale production, while its breads, rolls, and granola remain available through those online and retail outlets.
