Financial assistance
Helps with everyday bills during cancer treatment.
Financial assistance helps cancer patients who are unable to work during treatment cover everyday living expenses. Support is intended to help recipients remain in their homes, buy food and pay utility bills while they focus on treatment and returning to work. Applicants must have cancer in their immediate family, be undergoing treatment, face financial hardship and have expenses that exceed income. They must live within 50 miles of Portland and meet the organization's savings limit. Applications are confidential and reviewed by the board; referrals usually come through a community service organization or doctor. Komak is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity serving the Portland area, including Beaverton. It also welcomes volunteers and accepts donations.
