Karen Tsia Music Academy

Piano lessons are offered in person at students' homes. Instruction includes music theory, technique exercises, scales, grade-level pieces, and performance repertoire. Lessons also cover rhythm, sight reading, ear training, and aural skills. Students perform in two recitals each year, typically around November and May, and may take Con Brio online exams and ABRSM online theory exams. Teaching focuses on classical technique, tone production, practice methods, and building a strong musical foundation for advanced repertoire. Students need an adequate acoustic piano before starting. The instructor studied piano and graduated under the ABRSM system, a structured program based in the UK. Lessons are available in Ankeny, Iowa, for students and families prepared to commit to learning.
