Urban Libraries Council

The Future Scenarios: Library Space & Design policy roadmap offers recommendations for balancing physical library space and digital technologies. The Urban Libraries Council is a membership organization focused on public libraries in urban communities. It shares reports, toolkits, and planning resources for library leaders, including a GIS mapping tool and tip sheet for assessing routes to libraries. ULC also develops learning initiatives with member libraries and community partners. Its Civic Makers Lab for Youth supports hands-on civic learning for teens, while a civic discourse initiative trained library staff in multipartial facilitation and supported public programs. Other resources address e-book licensing and help libraries communicate its effects to the public and local leaders. The council works with libraries and partners in the United States and Canada.
