The Next Step Public Charter School

GED preparation is offered in English or Spanish. The Next Step Public Charter School also provides English as a Second Language classes for DC youth ages 16 to 30. Its program serves students facing challenges that have limited their support in traditional high schools. Beyond classes, student support includes case management and connections to community resources, along with college and career readiness guidance. Students can also take part in dialogue circles using restorative practices, and receive individualized tutoring through one-on-one or group instruction. The school supports students with planning for post-secondary education and career paths, including help accessing financial resources for further education. Its student support services are intended to address obstacles to learning and help students navigate needs such as transportation, housing, and family assistance.
