About Friends of Puerto Rico
Friends of Puerto Rico was founded in 2015 after an art exhibition fundraiser in Washington, D.C. The nonprofit is based in Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., and promotes economic development through education and entrepreneurial initiatives. Its work includes programs for women and girls, youth entrepreneurship, agriculture, emergency preparedness, and small business development. The AMIGAS network and business accelerator connects women entrepreneurs with girls and women interested in launching small businesses. SEEDS provides STEM-based entrepreneurship education, teaching public school students how to operate an agri-business. The organization also created Café Ama Love, whose purchases support scholarships, and Panorama Farm, which offers lodging, tours, and sustainable agriculture while supporting SEEDS.
