Chisom Housing Group

Founded in 2003, Chisom Housing Group works to preserve affordable housing and support residents as they move toward financial independence. Based in Washington, DC, it oversees 1,400 apartments across 24 affordable housing communities in 11 states, including eight properties for seniors and people with disabilities. Its programs address financial literacy, workforce development, food insecurity, education, and community connections. Chisom works with on-site community managers and local agencies to develop programs around residents' needs. Services include connecting residents with food pantries, arranging summer meal programs, and coordinating senior activities and health care presentations. Community-building efforts have included art camps, tree planting, employment fairs, after-school programs, English classes, and CNA training. Chisom also partners with local nonprofits and service providers.
