About Mermaid Factory
Paintable plaster projects and coastal-themed gifts are the main offerings. The shop sells locally made mermaid and dolphin statues as blank canvases for customers to paint, alongside pre-made figures and nautical gift items. Seasonal blank statues have included seahorses, turtles, sharks, and narwhals. Customers can paint projects in the studio or order a to-go kit; projects can be taken home the same day without kiln time. Kits can be assembled at either location, and shipping is available. The shop also carries gifts that can serve as mementos of Coastal Virginia or presents for visiting relatives. Its Virginia Beach location is on Laskin Road. Reservations are encouraged for studio painting.
