A parent-directed resource center, Family Resource Network serves families raising children from birth to age 22 with special needs. Its five-county California service area includes Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties. The organization offers opportunities for parents to connect with others who have similar experiences, along with a resource library of books, tapes, and articles about disabilities and support systems. Trained parents can listen confidentially, answer questions, and help families find information. FRN also provides training on services, systems, and family rights, and participates in community coordination for infants and toddlers with special needs. There are no income limits or eligibility requirements. The network also serves professionals who work with children with special needs.
