Founded in 1953
Started with a care package gathered in a Detroit home.
Founded in 1953 after Irene Auberlin gathered baby clothes and supplies for an orphan, World Medical Relief began as a Detroit effort to provide aid. The organization now redirects surplus medical supplies and equipment to clinics, seniors, and families in the United States and abroad. Its programs include international container shipments and medical missions, local health fairs, durable medical equipment, hygiene and blanket relief, and medical supply services. Affordable prescriptions are available to people aged 18 and older who need them. The organization also runs a pacemaker program and accepts donations of products, medications, and blanket and hygiene kits. Volunteers help sort, pack, and distribute medical aid. World Medical Relief reports serving more than 120 countries and filling thousands of medical supply and equipment orders.
