Robert Hutchison Architecture

An architecture studio. Robert Hutchison Architecture designs contemporary projects, with a focus on residences organized around courtyards. These homes use courtyards to open toward the environment and connect residents with the landscape. The studio also considers how windows, skylights, and courtyards bring daylight and greenery into the home. Its work draws inspiration from art and sculpture, with an interest in creating an element of surprise in each project. The practice spans architecture, art, and photography. It has completed projects in Mexico and Japan, alongside its work in Seattle. Founder Robert Hutchison established the studio in 2013 and teaches architectural design studios at the University of Washington. The team includes architects and project managers who contribute design and technical expertise across its projects.
