Substance use disorder treatment is the core offering, with programs for adults and for pregnant or parenting women and their young children. Services include medically supervised withdrawal management, residential treatment, medication-assisted treatment and intensive outpatient programs with classes, group meetings and education. Overdose prevention kits and education are also available through the Santa Cruz Overdose Prevention & Education program. The organization provides continuing support through sober living and supportive housing, along with a sobering center as an alternative destination for people acutely intoxicated by alcohol or other substances. Its programs serve individuals and families in Santa Cruz. Janus of Santa Cruz began in 1976 and became a nonprofit in 1981.
