Play-Based Learning
Child-centered classrooms support growth through play and learning.
St. James Preschool provides child-centered, play-based education for children ages 2 to 5. Founded in 1963, this nonprofit and nonsectarian school groups children by age in three classroom environments, with most children beginning in the Twos program. Full-day and half-day options are available. The curriculum supports personal growth and each child's individual abilities through play, learning, and social development. Enrichment includes monthly nature science outings for pre-kindergarten children, a home-lending library with more than 50 age-appropriate books annually, weekly Spanish classes, and music and movement. Families can learn more through an open house and tour. The preschool is located in San Francisco's Inner Richmond neighborhood.
