Folk Art Collection
Works span folk, outsider, visionary, and vernacular art.
The gallery curates and exhibits folk, outsider, visionary, and vernacular art from Mexico, Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Africa. Its collection includes historic and contemporary works dating from the 16th century to the present, with artists from local, regional, and international communities. San Angel Folk Art also features past and current exhibitions, including work by individual artists, and offers limited edition custom-made San Angel guayaberas and Mexican wedding shirts. The gallery was founded in 1989 after its founder traveled throughout Mexico and Latin America collecting folk art. Works are shown in San Antonio's Southtown neighborhood, less than a mile from downtown attractions, the Riverwalk, and the Alamo.
