Gentle Shepherd Hospice

Serving Roanoke and Lynchburg, Gentle Shepherd is a Christ-centered hospice provider. Hospice care follows an individualized daily plan developed with the patient and physician to address physical, emotional and spiritual needs. The care team can help families understand eligibility and coverage, and care may begin the same day after a decision to proceed. Same-day admissions are available 24/7. Care may involve a physician, social worker, chaplain and volunteers, with access to a nurse at any time of day or night. Families can also use caregiver resources, including an online e-library and downloadable materials. Support continues after a death through weekly grief support groups and Camp Braveheart, a summer camp for grieving youth in grades 3 through 12. The hospice also accepts referrals from healthcare professionals online or by phone.
