Working cattle ranch
Guests can join the crew for seasonal cattle work.
This is a working cattle ranch and guest ranch. Its two ranches are in southeastern Idaho, in the upper Snake River Valley and along the South Fork of the Snake River. Guests can join the cowboy crew for ranch work as seasonal needs arise, including calving, branding, gathering cattle, and moving herds between ranges. Daily work may involve roping, tending cattle, mending fences, and other ranch tasks. The property used for cattle operations includes 55,000 acres of state and federal grazing permits in the Rocky Mountains. Work is generally done on ranch-broke Quarter Horses; guests are matched with two or three horses for their stay, and a saddle is provided. The ranch was started by fourth-generation rancher Theron McGarry and continues with his family.
