AFT-Oregon

AFT-Oregon is a labor organization and state affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO. Its affiliated local unions represent more than 19,000 Oregon workers in K-12 schools, community colleges, and higher education, as well as child care workers in public and private sectors. Members include faculty, academic professionals, and classified employees. The organization provides advice, resources, and education to affiliated locals. It also advocates with unions and community groups for education and health care, and represents working people in state civic affairs and political action. Its legislative work has included part-time faculty health care, public student loan forgiveness eligibility, minimum wage, patient protection, collective bargaining, education funding, and workers compensation. AFT-Oregon also shares information for union members about workplace representation and unemployment insurance for striking workers.
