American Traveler Press publishes books focused on travel in the Southwest and Rocky Mountains, along with cookbooks featuring regional cuisines, including Tex-Mex and New Mexico cooking. Its catalog also includes books about the West, outdoor recreation, desert survival, history, ghosts, and activities for children. The publisher began with The Real Estate Primer and later added Renaissance House Publishers titles. A first cookbook, Arizona Cook Book, appeared in the mid-1970s and led to a series of Southwestern cookbooks. The catalog has grown to more than 100 cookbook and other titles, including illustrated travel books with maps and color photographs, as well as black-and-white field guides for adults and children.
