About Alchemy Studio
Art workshops in Tuscany have been part of Alchemy Studio's offerings since 2007. The Phoenix teaching studio opened in 1999 and provides classes and workshops in photographic arts, mixed media, and book arts. Its Arizona programs welcome people at any experience level who want to express themselves visually. The studio also organizes immersive retreats in rural Tuscany, Italy, with art making, meals, day trips, and lodging. Some retreats combine creative writing, photography, mixed media, and yoga. Artists Carol Panaro-Smith and James Hajicek also create collaborative photographic work using photogenic drawing, an early photographic process. Their prints use botanicals placed on hand-coated, light-sensitive paper. Alchemy Studio's offerings connect art instruction with opportunities to explore varied creative processes in Arizona and Italy.
