About Montessori Adventure
A Montessori classroom reopened Parkersburg Academy in 2011, serving 16 pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. Today, the school serves children in Pre-K through eighth grade. Its preschool options include half-day and full-day Pre-K, with classes running Monday through Thursday. Kindergarten through eighth grade also meets Monday through Thursday. The academy is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and describes its approach as spiritually oriented education. Its philosophy combines academic skills and life experiences with Christian morals and a focus on Jesus. The school traces Adventist education in Wood County to the late 1800s, and its current building dates to the late 1960s. Admissions begin with a scheduled visit, followed by a new student application.
