Mentor Newark

Based in downtown Newark, MENTOR Newark is a community organization focused on mentoring. It works with Newark schools and community partners to support mentoring programs and build a mentoring culture. Its work includes collaboration with the Newark Board of Education's Office of Mentoring Services, which co-designed and facilitated a peer mentoring conference with high school students. MENTOR Newark also shares stories about local mentees and mentoring initiatives, and brings students into learning experiences such as a corporate visit where they shadowed traders and staff. Events have included a celebration of mentoring and historically Black colleges and universities at the Hahne Building. The organization presents its work to audiences beyond Newark, including at the national mentoring summit.
