Workers' Center
Organizes with Latine workers on wage recovery and employment cases.
Established in 2018, COPAL organizes Latine workers to recover lost wages and pursue employment discrimination cases. The Minneapolis-based, member-based organization works to improve the quality of life of Latine families across Minnesota. Its programs address environmental justice, health and wellness, and organizing and leadership, including efforts to increase Latine voter participation. COPAL develops community health promoters and works on climate-related migration, pollution reduction, green jobs, and an equitable transition to clean energy. It also connects workers with unemployment benefits, vocational training, and job placement services. Resources include educational opportunities, COVID assistance and vaccines, rental assistance, and tenant support. Through its South Central Initiative, COPAL works to expand access to local, state, and national resources in rural areas.
