Franciscan Peacemakers

Community outreach and support programs connect women survivors of sexual exploitation with safe housing, meaningful work, and a healing network. Franciscan Peacemakers also works to end human sex trafficking through service and advocacy. Outreach began in 1995, with staff visiting Milwaukee streets in a van and distributing bag lunches and hygiene supplies to build relationships with women affected by trauma, poverty, addiction, and homelessness. Clare Community opened in 2014 as a longer-term option for women seeking healing. Its programs connect women with outreach, housing, employment, and community advocacy. The organization also sells handcrafted soaps, bath and body products, soy candles, gift sets, and merchandise. Its community services are based in Milwaukee.
