About Fisher House Wisconsin
Since opening at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Medical Center in 2016, the Milwaukee VA Fisher House has provided more than 20,000 nights of free lodging for military and veteran families. Fisher House Wisconsin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps fund the construction and operation of Fisher Houses across the state. It supports the Milwaukee house and is raising funds to build and sustain another near the VA in Madison. Fisher Houses offer a home away from home for family members, friends, or caregivers while a loved one receives medical care. In some circumstances, veterans or service members receiving extended outpatient care may also stay when accompanied by a caregiver. The organization partners with the national Fisher House Foundation and the Department of Veterans Affairs to expand this lodging support in Wisconsin.
