Former drive-in site
Redevelopment spans 17.42 acres of City-owned land.
The redevelopment covers 17.42 acres of City-owned land formerly occupied by the Southwest Twin Drive-in in southwest Memphis. Plans include a new public library of approximately 13,000 square feet and a police precinct of approximately 25,000 square feet. A new fleet services maintenance building will have 11 vehicle service bays. The existing 10,000-square-foot covered pavilion is planned for adaptive reuse as a community gathering place. Site work includes infrastructure improvements, ample parking, walking trails, and sidewalks connecting the grounds. The City of Memphis is developing the property through its Housing and Community Development Division. The project is intended to create a civic hub that also includes the future home of the Memphis Public Libraries' Levi branch.
