Economic Opportunities

The organization provides employment training, life coaching, spiritual guidance, and one-on-one mentoring for justice-impacted and under-resourced adults in the Greater Memphis Area. Its Shepherd's Work program combines on-the-job training with personalized support and refers participants to local employers by matching job opportunities to their skills, interests, and needs. Mentors, called Shepherds, offer guidance on employment and personal development. The program focuses on sustainable employment and economic stability. It also supports adults returning from incarceration; EcOp began in 1991 as an adult reentry training program and adopted the Shepherd's Work model in 2017. Its work centers on individuals and their households. The organization is based in Memphis.
